Listening to Arthur C. Clark interview circa 1968 on a 2001: A Space Odyssey DVD.
"Space has tremendous promise and, although it will be fatal if we use this lure to distract us from of our down to earth problems, nevertheless many of those problems can be solved if some may only be solved through space technology."
I think too many people (Especially Trekkies, have focused on the last half of that statement, and too few on the part about it being fatal to be distracted from our earth-bound problems. We still have over-population, war, starvation, disease, all the so called "7 sins". Not to mention destroying our own environment, a so-called mass suicide of humanity. Maybe more on this later, I'm going to walk & feed the dog, then go to bed.
